Do you like our updated Green Schools Noticeboard? We are a very busy Green Schools Committee in St. Kevin's!
Second Class went around to each class to tell the children their '5 Top Tips for Saving water'.
Our Water Art Displays
We are working on saving water in St. Kevin's JNS. Each class was asked to create an art display based on water. Here is some of our beautiful water artwork!
We checked for leaks
We checked all the taps and toilets in our school for leaks. We inspected each tap to make sure that they weren't dripping. We also made sure that they weren't running for too long. Did you know that you can check for leaks by putting food colouring in the tank of your toilet and coming back 30 minutes later? If there is food colouring in the bowl, there is a leak. Try it at home yourself!
First Class did a huge litter clean up in our school garden and surrounding areas. They picked up a lot of rubbish. Great job First Class!
Water Action Day 2020
Our Water Action Day 2020 was a very exciting day throughout St. Kevin's. We wore blue clothes to school. We did some very fun science experiments using water. We did some interesting activities based on water that week too. Every class did a Walk for Water around the local field. It was a fantastic day in St. Kevin's and everybody in our school got involved!
The Green Schools Committee have been busy bees! Check out some of the work
we have done so far to raise awareness and make a difference in our school.
Our Water Poster Competition
We save water in St. Kevin's JNS! We are learning all about water and how we can conserve water and use it sensibly. We had a Water Poster Competition in our school. Junior Infants and Senior Infants designed posters showing ways they use water at home and at school. First Class and Second Class made posters showing ways we can save water at home and at school. The Green Schools Committee had a very important job. They were the judges and they picked one winning poster from each class. They were very impressed at how fantastic all the posters were. Well done to all the children on their wonderful water themed posters!
